T. H. E. Country Cocoon

WWOOF	-- WORLDWIDE OPPORTUNITIES ON ORGANIC FARMS -- an international organization in which skills and labour are exchanged for unique experiences, room and board, and English enhancement, resulting in wonderful friendships and cultural exchanges. Connie has been an enthusiastic hostess in this program for many years.
	-- HOLISTIC RESOURCE MANAGEMENT -- the philosophy of land, people and finances under which T.H.E. COUNTRY COCOON operates. The basic question asked in making decisions is 'What do we want the land to look like in 100 years?' EDUCATION AND APPRENTICESHIP in this program is available.

I used to call this business 'Connie's Country Cocoon', but I realized that there have been so many people who have helped create what is here today that it is not really 'mine', nor will it always be in the future. Hence the change in name to T.H.E. COUNTRY COCOON, with the many different possibilities that 'T.H.E.' stands for. There are many, many projects that have been/could be developed on "my" land but I do not have the financial or personal energy/time resources to do them all. So for those whose DREAM it is to do 'something with the land', 'farm', 'have their children experience the rural way of life', etc., there have been here in the past those who have started up an egg-laying operation, a wood-cutting operation, and a maple syrup collection and processing operation, as well as participating in all of the other hands-on farming experiences. Some of these operations are no longer happening because the people have had to move on and my energy only goes so far, but the buildings and equipment are just waiting for someone else to come along to use it.!!

Some of these can easily be either short or long term projects. Others, such as a Community Shared Agriculture project (growing produce) would require a longer commitment, but even a project such as this involves a lot of paper/personnel work which can be easily done via modern communication systems from places other than right on this farm.

As I celebrate 40 yrs. of being in the "work" force, I contemplate the choices available to me for the next 40 years! Being land rich and cash poor, one of the many possibilities is for me to sell all / part of my land. So if reading all the information presented here creates a "would I like to have a place like this!" feeling, give me a call.

I am also working to establish a conservation easement on part of the property so that forever no other development can take place on those portions.
