Barrhead - Profile
Barrhead, located along Alberta's famous Klondike
Trail, derives its name from Barrhead, Scotland.
This connection is symbolized in the St. Andrew's
Cross which forms part of the town's crest.
The town is surrounded by a large agricultural community and its economy relies both on agriculture and forestry. The presence of numerous lakes in the vicinity is reflected in the town's Blue Heron logo.
Residents attribute the growth of their community in recent years in part to the friendly atmosphere generated by a strong contingent of European immigrants who contribute to the excellent quality of life in Barrhead.
