Joussard - Profile
Picturesque and friendly, this charming lakeshore fishing village has it all for the laid back leisure lifestyle. Situated just 3 1/2 hours north of Edmonton on Hwy. #2 at the west end of Lesser Slave Lake, Joussard offers many visitor amenities and attractions.
The business community of Joussard includes two stores with groceries, gas, drygoods, fishing tackle, hardware, liquor and video rentals; full service post office, bus depot, car wash, full service campground and boat launch, R.V. parking, guided touring and fishing/hunting, bed and breakfast, cabin rentals, hairstyling, laundromat, commercial fish packing plant, and various trades, crafts and mechanical services.
Joussard is proud to host two major annual summer events. The third (3rd) weekend in June is summer solstice time in the land of the midnight twilight, and about 5,000 people celebrate the longest day of the year at the North Country Fair folk music festival.
Later on each summer, "fishing fever" hits the community as anglers from far and wide compete for cash prizes in the live-release Joussard Walleye Tournament. Held on the August long weekend, this popular event features lively angling action, good facilities, and a helpful atmosphere.
Wintertime in Joussard means winter sports action! Ice fishing on the lake is great, as are the endless miles of snowmobile and ski trails. Rallies are held on a regular basis throughout the area. Hunting season in the fall features good success with big game, waterfowl, and upland bird game. Experienced guides and outfitters are available.
Truly a center for year round fun, the friendly community of Joussard is ready to help make your holiday or weekend getaway an enjoyable and memorable one!
