Slave Lake - Profile
Population: 5,607
The town of Slave Lake is on the southeastern shores of Lesser Slave Lake in northern Alberta. On its 1.5 km. stretch of Class One sandy white beach, the town hosts an annual Provincial Sandcastle Competition in July. This event draws many people, both as competitors and viewers.
The waters are crystal clear and since the lake only reaches an average depth of 18 feet, the water is warm and wonderful for swimming.
Lesser Slave Lake is also well-known for its wide variety of fish and great fishing "holes" out in this 65 mile-long lake.
